Fault and horizon interpretations are still the most time-consuming work in any seismic interpretation project. Most interpreters are still using a 2-D interpretation method to interpret the 3-D volume data, by digitizing fault sticks and horizons in every few in-lines or crosslines. This should not be the case if you are using advanced seismic interpretation software like AttributeStudioTM. 3-D seismic volume data should be interpreted in a truly 3-D way. In this webinar, we will demonstrate a workflow of 3-D surface tracking for both horizon and fault planes by utilizing multiple 3-D seismic attribute volumes.
The horizon and fault surface tracking workflow in AttributeStudio consists of the following steps
- Calculate fault attributes. We will use a new AI fault probability volume in the demo project.
- Noise removal through structural oriented filtering.
- Define a co-rendering volume with fault attribute and structure oriented filtered volumes.
- Track and edit fault surfaces on the co-rendered volume.
- Track horizon and edit surfaces on the co-rendered volume.
I will demonstrate the above workflow in a 3-D seismic survey from offshore New Zealand using the latest release of AttributeStudioTM.
